Orto Botanico di Brera
It was established in 1774 by Abbot Fulgenzio Witman. It is located behind the Pinacoteca di Brera on an area of 5000 m². It's a botanical garden in the centre of Milan which is operated by the Istituto di Fisica Generale Applicata of the Milan University.
Orto Botanico di Cascina Rosa
It is a botanical garden located on an area of 22000 m² at the end of Via Carlo Valvassori Peroni. It is operated by Milan University.
Parco Sempione:
It was the park of Castello Sforzesco in ancient times. The park is located on an area of 47 hectares. It was created in 1893 by Emilio Alemagne. It was conceived as an English garden. At the centre there's a lake and two watercourses lead out of it.
Palazzo dell'Arte:
It was built in 1933 by Giovanni Muzio. It is located on the west side of Parco Sempione. By the Palazzo there's the Torre del Parco which was known as Torre Littoria, degisned by Cesare Chiodi, Gio Ponti and Ettore Ferrari in 1932. It is 109 metres high and built of steel pipes. Palazzo dell'Arte is the house of the Triennale d'Arte Decorativa di Milano which was founded in 1923. There are examples of modern architecture, artistic and industrial activities.
Arco Della Pace:
The Arch of Peace was begun to be built in 1807 by Luigi Cagnola however because of some historical and political event it could be completed in 1838 although Napoleon Bonaparte urged its construction. When it was completed Ferdinand I Hapsburg was the emperor and he dedicated it to another Hapsburg, Francis I to celebrate the peace achieved in 1815 in Europe.
Acquario Civico:
It was established by the Società Lombarda per la Pesca e l'Acquicoltura in 1906 but then donated to the City of Milan. It is one of the oldest of its type.
Arena:
It is located at the end of Parco Sempione, close to the aquarium on the east side. It is built in Neoclassical style in 1806 by Luigi Canonica. Today the great Arena or Civic Stadium hosts sports contests and such events.
