The Italian Lakes region is located about an hour away from Milan.
Among these lakes, there are the ones dating back to the Ice Age such as Lake Como, Maggiore and Garda.
Climate at the lakes region is more moderate. During winter the lowest temperature is about 4 degrees, during summer, it is hot especially in July the lowest temperature is 24 degrees. Winters are rainy and snow is confined to the higher ridges between the lakes. There are thunderstorms in late summer around the Alps for a few days. The best time to visit the lakes is in spring or in autumn especially in late September.
