It is located within the borders of both Switzerland and Italy. Some of the western shore, the northeastern arm and Campione are in Italy.

Campione: It is located on the eastern shore. There is a municipal casino and in the west, the River Tresa draining Lake Lugano and feeding into Lake Maggiore.
Ponte Tresa: It is the town which is located both in Italy and in Switzerland.
Magliaso: It is known with Zoo al Maglio. It is open every day between 10:00am and 17:00.
Morcote: It is located on the peninsula. There is the church of Madonna del Sasso which has 16th century frescoes.
