Museo di Arte Antica:

The collections of the museum dates back from the 4th to the 16th Centuries.

Room 1 hosts the collections of Roman and Early Christian period such as the sarcophagus of Lambrate, the Good Shepherd, tomb frescoes from San Giovanni in Conca, fragments of the old basilica of Santa Tecla and the Byzantine head of the Empress Theodora.

Room 2 has Romanesque items dating back to the 12th and 13th Centuries like the fragment with the Three Kings, works by Benedetto Antelami, the tomb of Bernabo Visconti by Bonino da Campione.

Room 3 is the chapel of San Donato. It hosts the Blessing Redeemer and a relief with a knight presented to the Virgin Mary, a statue of St James the Greater, sarcophagus of friar Mirano di Bachaloe, statue of Madonna and Child, St Ambrose, a Madonna between Saints Babila, Ambrose, Benedict and Dionysius, the tomb of Bianca di Savoia and the tomb of Antonello Arcimboldi.

Room 4 hosts Tabernacle which is the work of a Burgundian master, coat-of-arms of the Spanish King Philip II and his wife Mary Tudor, 14th century Madonna, stone slab with Pieta, architectural remains of the façade of the S. Maria di Brera Church and sepulchral monument of the Rusca family.

In Room 5 the tomb of G. Lanfranchi, 15th century Venetian sculpture, Kiss of Judas and a headless Madonna by G. Pisano are kept.

Room 6 has the bas-relief of the Return of the Milanese to Milan after the sack of Barbarossa and St Ambrose Chsing out The Arians.

On the walls of Room 7 there are tapestries from Mantua and the Flemish School of the 18th century. Banner of the city which was made by Giuseppe Meda in 1566 is located at the centre of the room. Episodes from the Life of St Ambrose and Italian coat-of-arms are represented by the silk, gold and silver figures at the two sides. The statue of Adam by Stoldo Lorenzi, the marble bust of Ottavio Farnese and the busts of Roman Emperors are kept in this room.
