For the Expo in 2015, BIE had two candidates: Izmir, Turkey and Milan, Italy. On the assembly in Paris on 31 March 2008, Milan got the chance to host the Expo 2015 by 86 to 65 votes.
Through Expo, variety of cultural events will be in the city such as many initiatives and important expositions. Expo has a great touristic reference for the cities that is arranged in. Millions of people from all around the world rush into the expo city to see different inventions and products etc. So in order to attract the highest number of visitors to Milan; Expo is the best thing and attracts more people than Olympics.
It was pointed out in the conference of expo held on the 4th of May at the European Parliament in Brussels that it will be an opportunity for tourism, community products and Green economy in Italy. It will also be a chance for the whole Europe in order to increase the value of tourists, to involve young people in cultural and educational exchange programs and to attract investments. The value of European brands will increase at the same time.
Expo 2015 Milan will also be a good opportunity for the people who are trying to find profession and looking for a temporary job. Expo is the source of employment especially for students and many young people. Jobs are available for tour guides, translators, interpreters, waiters, barmen, models and several other occupations inside Expo area and many projects for tourism, services, commerce, restaurants and logistics will be developed.
